What a spread! In Touch gave a MAJOR shout out to black halo with this 2 page spread on the Jackie-O and all the celebrities who have and continue to wear her. All these girls look terrific, and this type of coverage shows just how hot black halo continues to be!!!! The same week as this ran, E TV featured a four minute segment on the Daily 10, interviewing designer Laurel Berman, and showed the black halo design studios. I love this kinda momentum in print each and every week. It makes getting the mail even more exciting than looking the my chain letters from prisoners!

I admit, I was not 100% certain who Dania Ramirez is when I saw her wearing Jay Godfrey at two receient red carpet events. Actually She has had numerous acting credits including roles in Buffy The Vampire Slayer and the Sopranos. She looks stunning, and clearly knows that if you want to hang with the 'A listers', dress the part, and that means Jay Godfrey!

This new mom has a pretty vast career in TV and the movies. Long before rocking Rich & Skinny, she was Leanne in 2 episodes of 90210. She even did a stint on The Love Boat: The Next Wave. Any thoughts? If you already figured it out, I am impressed!

Ok Kids, and you know who you are, waiting for my next post like anxious brats on Christmas Day....well here you go, the first official post of 2009! I know, it is 11 days in, but it was one HELL of a hangover. Now that that our heads are clear I will get you back on track. So lots happening at Joey Showroom: New Designers, new employees, and most exciting, new space. Our 6000 sq ft office in NYC is near completion, and let me tell you, it is looking FIERCE. The showroom is in the Tunnel Building (ie Tunnel Night Club) in West Chelsea Arts district. It has amazing architectual elements like exposed brick and huge beamed ceilings. There is a private elevator that opens into our showroom, which occupies the entire floor. The collections are showcased in individualized areas with original hardwood floors and vintage racks and furniture. There is even a full bar/kitchen for buyers to have a drink while shopping (We know who to have a bottle of wine chilled for before their appointments!) While the official launch will be in February during fashion week and market, here is a sneak peak of our new NYC home.We can not wait to see all of our buyers real soon, and we welcome our new designers to our showroom. So stayed logged on, to see all the exciting new and press, it is going to be an SPECTACULAR year.

Designer Q&A: Laurel Berman of Black Halo

Laurel Berman, creator and designer of Black Halo, knows how to dress a siren. Her designs are popping up everywhere from the stylist scene to pretty girls on prime time. Berman has struck a well-draped balance between her own easy L.A. style and knowing how to adorn the body as simply as possible. We asked Laurel about her inspirations.

What inspires your designs? Travel, art, music, and everyday life in L.A. I use my surroundings and experiences throughout my life to influence my design process by looking inside to find my inner truth and interpret this into my designs.

What do you love about being a designer? I love to travel, fabrics, and the process of creating something beautiful from start to finish.

What are your favorite pieces in your collection and why? I live in the Black Halo dresses, from the fitted styles to the more full jumper styles. However, my current favorite is the strapless one-piece jumpsuit. It is easy to accessorize and the style feels so avant-garde.

Describe the type of woman you design for. I design for the sexy and confident career woman. My garments go from day to dinner so they are perfect for the girl on the go.

Favorite scent? Nanadebary.
